It was a good news bad news budget really, with no major surprises.
Good news:
- Reduction in CGT rates for residential property sales.
- Reduction in NIC rates
- The High-Income Child Benefit Charged, being reformed, but not for a few years yet. In the short term the threshold has been increase to £60,000.
- VAT Registration threshold increasing to £90,000, (probably not enough in most people’s opinions)
Bad news:
- Furnished Holiday lets, from April 2025 to be taxed as all other properties.
Fairly tame, overall, from Mr Hunt, given the polls are suggesting there will be a change of Government this year.
